I Scored 180 in JAMB, What Courses Can I Study at AAU? 2026/2027

180 in JAMB to study in AAU
22
SHARES

If you scored 180 in JAMB and chose Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, you have several courses to choose from for the 2026/2027 admission exercise.

A score of 180 meets AAU’s published JAMB requirement for many courses with cut-off marks of 152, 160, 168, 172 and 180.

This means a candidate with 180 can apply for courses such as Computer Science, Microbiology, Business Administration, Accounting, Biochemistry, Political Science, Theatre and Media Arts, several Engineering programmes and many other courses.

However, 180 is not enough for every course at AAU. Nursing Science requires 190, Mass Communication requires 200 and Law requires 260. AAU’s published table does not state a JAMB score for Medicine and Surgery.

Courses You Can Study at AAU With 180 JAMB Score

With a JAMB score of 180, you meet the published score requirement for all AAU programmes set at 180 or below.

Here are the main options.

Agriculture

You can apply for:

  • Agricultural Economics – 152
  • Animal Science and Food Science – 152
  • Soil and Environmental Science – 152

  • Agricultural Extension Management – 152

Arts

With 180, you can apply for:

  • Modern Languages (French) – 152
  • History and International Studies – 152
  • Philosophy – 152
  • Religious Management and Cultural Studies – 152
  • Theatre and Media Arts – 168

However, Mass Communication requires 200, so a score of 180 does not meet the published requirement for the course.

Basic Medical Sciences

A JAMB score of 180 meets the requirement for:

  • Anatomy – 160
  • Human Physiology – 160

Nursing Science requires 190, so candidates with 180 do not meet the published JAMB score for Nursing.

AAU’s 2026/2027 notice also does not state a JAMB score for Medicine and Surgery. Candidates interested in MBBS should therefore not assume that 180 is sufficient.

Education

Candidates with 180 can apply for the Education programmes listed at 152, including:

  • Accounting Education
  • Secretarial Education
  • English Education
  • Biology Education
  • Early Childhood

  • Mechanical Engineering – 160
  • Industrial and Production Engineering – 152

So, yes, you can study Engineering at AAU with 180 JAMB, including Civil, Electrical/Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, based on the university’s published 2026/2027 JAMB scores.

  • Biochemistry – 160
  • Human Nutrition and Dietetics – 160
  • Plant Science and Biotechnology – 152
  • Zoology – 152
  • Microbiology – 180

Therefore, Microbiology is one of the science courses you can study at AAU with exactly 180 JAMB, based on the university’s published score.

Management Sciences

Candidates with 180 can apply for:

  • Accounting – 160
  • Banking and Finance – 152

Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering require 160, while Industrial and Production Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, and Agricultural and Bio-resources Engineering require 152.

Since 180 is above all these scores, a candidate with 180 meets the published JAMB requirement for these Engineering programmes.

Can I Study Accounting at AAU With 180?

Yes.

AAU has set 160 and above as the JAMB score for Accounting.

Can I Study Business Administration With 180?

Yes.

Business Administration requires 172 and above according to AAU’s 2026/2027 departmental JAMB scores.

Since 180 is below 190, a candidate with exactly 180 does not meet the university’s published JAMB requirement for Nursing Science.

If Nursing is your preferred course, you should not rely on the general 152 score. The Nursing requirement is higher.

Can I Study Mass Communication With 180?

No.

AAU requires 200 and above for Mass Communication.

A JAMB score of 180 is therefore not enough for Mass Communication at AAU based on the published 2026/2027 score.

What Are the Best Courses to Study With 180 in AAU?

A candidate with 180 has several options, particularly in Science, Engineering, Management, Social Science, Arts and Education.

Some of the courses candidates may consider include:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Economics
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • English
  • History and International Studies
  • Philosophy
  • Industrial Chemistry
  • Mathematics

The best choice should depend on the candidate’s interests, O’Level subjects and the specific course requirements, rather than JAMB score alone.

Is 180 a Good JAMB Score for AAU?

Yes, 180 gives you many options at AAU.

It is high enough to meet the published JAMB score for a large number of courses and gives you more choices than someone who scored exactly 152.See courses you can study in AAU with 152 cut off mark here

Most importantly, 180 meets the published requirement for Computer Science and Microbiology, while also covering courses requiring 152, 160, 168 and 172.

However, if you are still preparing for JAMB and have not yet taken the examination, do not make 180 your target simply because it is enough for some courses. Aim higher if you can.

A higher score can give you access to more competitive programmes and gives you more room when making your course choice.

Important Note for Candidates With 180

AAU states that its 2026/2027 cut-off marks are based strictly on the candidate’s JAMB score, and the university will not conduct a Post-UTME screening examination for the admission exercise. Candidates must also ensure that their O’Level or Direct Entry results are uploaded to JAMB CAPS as required by the university.

So, if you scored 180, check the requirement for your exact course before making your final choice.

In short, 180 is enough for many AAU courses, including Computer Science, Microbiology, Accounting, Business Administration, Political Science and several Engineering programmes. It is not enough for Nursing, Mass Communication or Law based on AAU’s published 2026/2027 JAMB scores.
