Edo Civil Service 2026 Recruitment Update

The Edo State Civil Service Commission has moved forward with its 2026 recruitment exercise as shortlisted applicants begin the Computer-Based Test (CBT) stage in Benin City.

The CBT is being conducted at Block D of the Edo State Secretariat Complex, following the screening of applications submitted for the recruitment.

A total of 1,857 applications were received for the exercise, while 521 applicants were shortlisted after the submissions were assessed based on the required qualifications.

The Permanent Secretary of the Edo State Information Communication Technology Agency, Engr. Jonathan Ukpebor, confirmed the figures during the commencement of the CBT.

The recruitment exercise had earlier been advertised through newspapers, the Edo Bulletin and social media platforms to inform qualified applicants about the available vacancies.

Speaking at the CBT venue, Chairman of the Edo State Civil Service Commission, Samuel Ozemhonyelea Oko-Ose, said the selection process was designed to give qualified applicants a fair opportunity to secure employment in the state civil service.

He assured candidates that the exercise would be conducted without discrimination based on tribe, sex or colour, adding that the commission’s selection process would focus on merit, fairness and equity.

Candidates who progress through the CBT stage will face an interview before the recruitment process is concluded. Those who successfully complete the required stages will subsequently receive their employment letters.

Oko-Ose also encouraged candidates to view the civil service as a career with opportunities for advancement, noting that hardworking and disciplined officers can progress through the ranks to senior positions such as directors and permanent secretaries.

The ongoing CBT therefore represents the latest stage in the Edo State Civil Service Commission’s 2026 recruitment exercise, with applicants who have been shortlisted now undergoing the assessment required before the interview stage.
