Oluremi Tinubu to Visit Edo October 15 — Reveals Agenda

The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu,has announced her visit to Edo State on October 15. Here is what has been announced so far about the visit.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to visit Edo State on October 15, 2026, for the inauguration of 50 compressed natural gas buses.

The planned visit was disclosed by Edo State APC Deputy Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh, during Governor Monday Okpebholo’s visit to traders at the Uwelu Spare Parts Market in Benin City.

Aigboboh said the buses are expected to support efforts to reduce transportation costs for residents of the state.

The October visit will place Edo’s transport programme in focus at a time when the Federal Government is pushing states to expand the use of compressed natural gas as an alternative to petrol.

President Bola Tinubu recently directed states to accelerate implementation of the National Affordable CNG Transit Programme and ensure that lower energy costs translate into cheaper transport fares.

The Federal Government said Edo already has 50 CNG buses in active service, alongside similar transport programmes being expanded in states including Kano, Delta, Kwara, Lagos and Akwa Ibom.

The CNG programme is part of the administration’s response to higher petrol prices and transport costs following the removal of fuel subsidy.

Under the national programme, states are expected to identify priority transport corridors, support vehicle conversion and deployment, and expand access to CNG refuelling infrastructure.

The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles says more than 120,000 vehicles have been converted nationwide, with over 400 certified conversion centres and more than 90 CNG refuelling stations currently listed under the programme.

Oluremi Tinubu’s expected visit will therefore centre on the transport initiative and the formal inauguration of the buses in Edo State.
