Governor Monday Okpebholo has announced a new appointment for Iyamu Osaro Destiny as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance in Edo State.
f the Edo State Consumer Protection Committee, reinforcing his administration’s drive to strengthen consumer rights and improve public service delivery across the state.
The appointment was formally announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., on Monday.
According to the state government, the appointment reflects Governor Okpebholo’s determination to build effective institutions that protect consumers, promote accountability and ensure higher standards in service delivery.
Iyamu, an entrepreneur and respected community leader, is widely known for his contributions to empowerment initiatives and advocacy for justice, fairness and responsible leadership.
The government noted that his experience in community development and public engagement makes him well-positioned to lead the committee in protecting the interests of consumers throughout Edo State.
Beyond his work as an entrepreneur, Iyamu is also recognised as an author with publications focusing on good governance and ethical leadership. His writings, according to the government, demonstrate his commitment to promoting transparency, accountability and responsible public administration.
The statement further described him as a skilled organiser with a proven ability to mobilise people and resources towards achieving developmental goals, qualities that are expected to strengthen the operations of the Consumer Protection Committee.
Iyamu currently serves as the Founder and President of the Aiguobasinmwin Movement Worldwide, an organisation through which he has championed community development and social empowerment initiatives. He has also held several leadership positions over the years.
His appointment comes as the Okpebholo administration continues to constitute boards and committees aimed at improving governance and delivering efficient services to the people of Edo State.
The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee is expected to play a key role in safeguarding consumer rights, addressing complaints relating to goods and services, and promoting fair business practices across the state.
