Governor Okpebholo Gives Veteran Broadcaster Festus Alenkhe New Appointment

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of veteran broadcaster and journalist Festus Alenkhe as the substantive Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).

The appointment takes immediate effect and was announced in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, on September 21, 2026.

Alenkhe takes over the leadership of EBS after serving as the organization’s Acting Managing Director. His appointment places an experienced broadcaster at the helm of the state-owned broadcasting service as the government moves to strengthen its operations.

Before his appointment, Alenkhe served as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council. He also served as Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross, Edo State Branch.

The Edo State Government said his experience in journalism, broadcasting and public service informed the decision to appoint him as the substantive head of EBS.

According to the government, Alenkhe demonstrated leadership and commitment to the development of the broadcasting service during his period as Acting Managing Director.

His new role will see him oversee the affairs of EBS, including its broadcasting operations and efforts to improve service delivery to residents across Edo State.

The government said the appointment is part of efforts to strengthen the professional and administrative capacity of the Edo Broadcasting Service.

Alenkhe’s appointment also means the veteran journalist will now lead EBS on a substantive basis after his period as acting managing director.
