Mudiame University, Irrua, in collaboration with Auxano Consulting Nig. Ltd., has held a one-day seminar on Aeronautics Training Programmes as the university takes steps towards developing aviation education, training and related facilities at its permanent site.

The seminar was personally anchored by the Vice Chancellor of Mudiame University, Engr Prof.  Emmanuel Aluyor, who introduced the partners and speakers involved in the programme and outlined the activities scheduled for the day.

Professor Aluyor introduced Prof. Eboh Eromosele the Chancellor of the Mudiame University , Mr. Odia Ehis, Managing Director of Auxano Consulting Nig. Ltd., who led the presentation on the proposed aeronautics training programmes and the aviation vision being developed for Mudiame University.

He also introduced Kyle Crely, a professional pilot and aircraft mechanic from South Africa, who participated in the programme and later spoke about his willingness to contribute his professional experience and skills to the university’s aviation plans.

The seminar brought together university officials, aviation professionals, lecturers, students and other participants to discuss the development of aeronautics training at Mudiame University.

Auxano Outlines Mudiame’s Aviation Vision

Presenting the aviation plans, Odia Ehis said the Centre for Aviation and Aerospace Studies is being developed as a specialized centre for practical, industry-focused education, training, research and innovation.

The areas identified for training and development include aviation operations, aeronautical engineering, aircraft maintenance, pilot training, aerospace technology, aviation safety, aircraft manufacturing and assembly.

The centre will also introduce students to drone technology.

According to Ehis, the plan is not only to teach students about drones but also to develop drones on the Mudiame University campus.

The aviation vision goes further, with the long-term goal of developing the ability to build light aircrafts at the university.

Ehis said the vision was achievable and that steps were already being taken towards its implementation. He disclosed that the first application relating to the project had been sent to the minister of aviation, with further consultations expected.

The idea is to create a programme where students can gain practical knowledge in aviation while the university develops the technical capacity required for aircraft maintenance, drone development, manufacturing and eventually aircraft production.

Kyle Crely Offers Professional Support

The seminar also featured Kyle Crely, a professional pilot and aircraft mechanic from South Africa who has a flight training institute.

Crely expressed his happiness at being part of the aviation vision being developed at Mudiame University.

He said he was ready to support the university with his professionalism, experience and technical skills.

His experience as both a pilot and aircraft mechanic brings two important areas of aviation practice into the conversation around the proposed training programmes.

While pilots are responsible for operating aircraft, aircraft mechanics work on the technical side, including the maintenance and servicing required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition.

Crely’s involvement therefore adds practical aviation experience to the university’s plans as it develops its aeronautics training programmes.

Chancellor Backs Aviation Vision

The university’s aviation plans received strong backing from Prof. Eboh Sunny Eromosele, Chancellor of Mudiame University.

The Chancellor said the vision was achievable and disclosed that the university had already put documents together and communicated with the minister concerning the initiative.

He also linked the aviation plans to other centres being developed by the university.

According to Prof. Eromosele, Mudiame University already has a Business and Collaboration Centre, with plans for centres covering areas including mining and oil and gas. He added that a manufacturing centre would begin to take shape and would support the university’s aviation and manufacturing activities.

The Chancellor said the university’s technology and manufacturing plans would help provide support for the aviation vision.

120-Acre Permanent Site to Host Airstrip

A major moment of the seminar came when attention turned to the university’s permanent site.

The university has a 120-acre permanent site, and the available land provides the space required for the planned aviation infrastructure.

As part of the day’s activities, there was a symbolic setup of a windsock at the university’s permanent site, marking the location where the proposed airstrip will be built.

The windsock provided a visible symbol of the university’s aviation plans and gave participants an opportunity to see the location earmarked for the airstrip.

Prof. Eromosele had earlier announced that an airstrip would be built at the site and said members of the university team would visit the location to identify how the facility would be situated.
The symbolic placement of the windsock therefore marked an important moment during the seminar, connecting the discussions in the lecture setting with a physical location for the university’s aviation plans.

Manufacturing Plans to Support Aviation

The Chancellor also spoke about the manufacturing facilities being developed at Mudiame University.

He said the manufacturing centre would support both manufacturing activities and the aviation plans.

This is significant because the aviation vision presented during the seminar includes drone development, aircraft assembly and the eventual construction of light aircrafts.

The university is therefore looking at aviation training alongside the technical and manufacturing capacity needed to support the industry.

Chancellor Commends Vice Chancellor

At the end of the programme, Prof. Eboh Sunny Eromosele commended Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor for his role in advancing the university’s vision and for organizing the seminar.

The Chancellor’s remarks came as the university leadership reflected on the plans being discussed and the work still ahead.

Prof. Eromosele encouraged lecturers and students to understand and support the university’s vision, stressing that Mudiame University was established with the intention of making an impact beyond simply operating as a local university.

The seminar ended with participants proceeding to the university’s permanent site, where the location for the planned airstrip was identified and the windsock was symbolically set up.

For Mudiame University, the seminar marked a step from discussing aeronautics training in the classroom to showing participants the physical location where part of the aviation vision is expected to take shape.

With plans covering aviation training, pilot development, aircraft maintenance, drone technology, manufacturing, an airstrip and eventual light aircraft production, the university’s aviation programme is set to become an important part of its academic and technical development.
