Governor Monday Okpebholo has appointed 28 New Commissioners in Edo state.

The Edo State Government has announced a sweeping restructuring of its ministries as part of a broader effort to enhance governance, streamline service delivery, and align state operations with federal priorities.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor, Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo approved the creation and reorganization of ministries to reflect the structure at the federal level. The move, according to the statement, is designed to ensure synergy between the Governor’s SHINE Agenda and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The reform brings the total number of ministries in the state to twenty-eight (28), following the establishment of new portfolios and the revival of previously defunct ones.

Governor Okpebholo explained that the restructuring represents a strategic step toward strengthening institutional efficiency and improving policy coordination across key sectors of government.

“This reform is not just an administrative exercise but a strategic effort to make government more responsive, accountable, and development-driven,” the Governor stated.

“It aligns with our commitment under the SHINE Agenda to deliver inclusive growth, infrastructural renewal, economic expansion, and effective governance for every Edo citizen.”

The Governor reaffirmed that the reshaped ministries will improve public service performance and enhance collaboration among government departments for faster and more transparent service delivery.

The initiative seeks to position Edo State as a leading hub for innovation, investment, and sustainable development.

Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence in the appointed commissioners, emphasizing that their selection was based on merit, capacity, and a proven record of public service.

He urged the new appointees to demonstrate integrity, diligence, and accountability in the discharge of their duties, assuring Edo citizens of his administration’s continued commitment to transparency and people-centered governance.

About the SHINE Agenda

The SHINE Agenda is the development framework of the Okpebholo administration, built on five pillars — Security, Human Capital Development, Infrastructure, New Economy, and Energy Reform — aimed at driving Edo State’s long-term growth and sustainability.
