Governor Obaseki and Asue Ighodalo seen at the PDP campaign on Monday, September 1, 2024
On Monday, the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, took charge of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign in Uhunmwonde and Orhionmwon Local Government Areas of the State.
The team received a warm welcome from a jubilant crowd of supporters and party members, who eagerly rolled out the red carpet to greet them.
Introducing the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and his deputy, Osarodion Ogie, to voters at Old Council Hall, Ehor in Uhunmwonde LGA, Obaseki encouraged the people to show up in large numbers on September 21 to support the PDP. He emphasized the importance of continuing the government’s commendable initiatives to improve the lives of the people and promote economic prosperity for the state.
Additional members of the campaign team include the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, and the Chairman of Edo PDP, Anthony Aziegbemi, among others.
The governor highlighted the significant improvements in Uhunmwonde since his administration took office. He emphasized the restoration of peace, security, and safety in the area. Additionally, he expressed his confidence in Ighodalo, describing him as the most qualified and capable candidate in the election. The governor believes that Ighodalo will build upon the government’s achievements and foster further development in the state.
According to Obaseki, there was a time when kidnapping was a major issue in Uhunmwonde. Recognizing the government’s responsibility to protect its citizens and their belongings, my administration made it a priority to ensure the safety of the people in the state.
Ever since the PDP government assumed power, we have made it a priority to establish and maintain safety, peace, and security within the state. The situation was extremely dire, with incidents of kidnapping happening frequently in Uhunmwode. However, we took decisive action by establishing an Army base to combat these criminal acts.
We have dedicated ourselves to the development and growth of the economy of Edo State over the past eight years, striving to do our best. We utilized our resources to enhance various sectors including education, security, health, agriculture, and more.
The governor emphasized the need for a change in leadership, stating that the government’s work cannot be completed within eight years. He expressed confidence in Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie, highlighting their ability to drive the state towards progress.
If elected, Ighodalo promises to address poverty and hunger, and work towards economic growth and prosperity in the State.
He observed that instead of addressing important issues and informing the public about their plans for governance, the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has chosen to engage in negative politics, smear campaigns, and mudslinging.
He confidently stated, “If we are elected, our goal is to transform Edo into a state of prosperity and well-being, leaving poverty, hunger, and suffering behind.”
Edo has experienced significant growth and development under Obaseki’s leadership, with improvements in education, agriculture, sports, technology, and health. Obaseki has accomplished a challenging task, and our responsibility is to carry on the progress he has made.
In Orhionmwon LGA, Obaseki welcomed over 2000 individuals who switched from the APC to the PDP, expressing appreciation for their decision to join the victorious party.
Addressing the audience at Esigie Primary School in Abudu, Orhionmwon LGA, the governor proudly stated, “Over the past 8 years, my administration has demonstrated that Orhionmwon is the leading provider of food and a significant hub for gas in the State.” I began working on Orhionmwon as I noticed that the investments in oil palm were making a significant impact on the economic development of the region.
We are attracting additional investors, some of whom are planning to bring approximately five megawatts of power to the council area. Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie will carry on the progress we have made.
This location will serve as the site for the construction of the hostel for Edo State College of Education, Abudu, where our campaign is currently taking place. Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie are highly capable individuals who can contribute significantly to the development of the State.
Encouraging the people to reject APC and its candidate, Obaseki confidently stated, “APC claims they will rely on federal power in this election, but we have the backing of God, and with His support, victory is guaranteed.”
According to Ighodalo, the PDP is associated with development and growth, while the APC is often linked to hardship, suffering, and poverty.
“The inability of the APC to upload the names of their party’s agents on the INEC portal raises questions about their ability to govern a technologically advanced state like Edo State.” They have no intentions for the State as they have tactics on how to exploit the State’s treasury, but we will not permit them to proceed with their plans. We aim to foster economic growth in the State and provide assistance to local government areas to flourish.
