Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has stated that he will not permit criminal groups to cause instability in the state.
Shortly after a security conference with heads of security agencies and political, religious, and traditional leaders to discuss how to handle the unique security concerns in Edo North, Okpebholo made this statement in Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s rural house.
He claimed that in order to preserve peace and security throughout the state, particularly in Edo North, the security stakeholders’ meeting had become essential.
“Under my watch, criminal elements will not succeed in destabilizing Edo State. I will deal with them decisively and make the State inhabitable for their activities,”:
He urged the people of Edo to anticipate improved security, stating that any resolutions reached for the sake of peace would be used to improve state security.
“We came here for a peaceful discussion regarding security. We had a perfect discussion. Let us watch it from here. Things will be perfect in our land,” he said.
Oshiomhole, for his part, praised the governor’s strategy for addressing the state’s security concerns.
“Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has come to Edo North to discuss with the people what he has been doing and what he will do in terms of security of lives and property in Edo State.”
“The people have expressed their confidence in the Governor. They have reaffirmed their loyalty and commitment to work together with the security agencies so that Afenmai land will be safe,” he said.
Speaking as well, HRH Mallam Ali Suleiman, a traditional ruler in the region, stated that traditional rulers have decided to work with security agencies and stakeholders to maintain peace in Edo, adding that the security meeting has given stakeholders confidence.
