Mudiame University, Irrua, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships with professional bodies after receiving a delegation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ekpoma District Society, during a courtesy visit to the institution.
The delegation was received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Aluyor, alongside members of the university management, in a meeting focused on deepening collaboration between the university and the accounting profession.
Leading the ICAN delegation were Mr. Frank Orumwense, ACA; Mrs. Akinfolerin Bolanle Susan, FCA; Mr. Isidahomen Vincent; Mrs. Awe Olanike; and Dr. Isaac E. Ogbeifun, FCA.
A major highlight of the visit was the formal invitation presented to Professor Aluyor and the university community to participate in the 9th ICAN Southern Zonal Accountants’ Conference, scheduled to hold in Auchi, Edo State, from August 11 to August 14, 2026.
The conference, themed “Leveraging Innovation and Risk-Taking for Sustainable Economic Growth: The Chartered Accountants’ Perspective,” will bring together chartered accountants, academics, policymakers, business leaders and other stakeholders to explore strategies for driving sustainable economic development through innovation, sound governance and responsible risk-taking.
According to the organisers, the event is expected to attract more than 1,500 participants from across the southern states and other parts of the country, providing a platform for professional engagement, knowledge sharing and policy discussions on the future of Nigeria’s economy.
Speaking during the meeting, Professor Aluyor expressed appreciation to the ICAN delegation for the visit and the invitation, describing collaboration between universities and professional bodies as essential to producing graduates equipped for today’s dynamic workplace.
He noted that partnerships with organisations such as ICAN enrich academic programmes by exposing students and staff to professional standards, emerging industry trends and continuous learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
The Vice-Chancellor reiterated Mudiame University’s commitment to building productive relationships with professional institutions that promote academic excellence, ethical leadership and national development.
Members of the ICAN delegation commended the university’s growing reputation for quality education and innovation, while expressing optimism that closer collaboration would create additional opportunities for students, academic staff and accounting professionals.
The courtesy visit underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing professional education and strengthening the relationship between academia and industry.
For Mudiame University, the engagement forms part of its broader vision of fostering strategic partnerships that enhance teaching, research and professional development while contributing to the socio-economic growth of Edo State and Nigeria.
