Mudiame University, Irrua, has taken another bold step toward expanding its academic offerings by hosting the National Universities Commission (NUC) Resource Verification Team for the proposed Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme.
The exercise, part of the NUC’s quality assurance process, is designed to evaluate the university’s readiness to commence its medical programme. The visiting team, comprising NUC officials and seasoned academics in the medical field, was received by the institution’s management, faculty, and staff.
During the inspection, the team assessed Mudiame University’s teaching and laboratory facilities, including the anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry laboratories, lecture halls, library, and clinical training resources. They also reviewed key areas such as staffing, curriculum design, student support systems, and the availability of essential medical equipment.
NUC representatives emphasized that strong infrastructure and qualified faculty remain central to delivering a globally competitive medical programme. They commended Mudiame University for its vision and dedication to producing competent medical professionals for Nigeria and beyond.
Vice Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor expressed gratitude to the NUC for its guidance, noting that the visit underscored the university’s preparedness to meet national and international standards in medical education. He reaffirmed Mudiame University’s commitment to training doctors of the highest calibre.
Licensed by the NUC in 2021, Mudiame University currently offers accredited programmes in Engineering, Nursing, and other disciplines. With the proposed MBBS programme, the university seeks to strengthen its position as a centre of excellence in higher education. Admission into various programmes remains open to qualified applicants.
