Will PDP Challenge Edo 2024 Election in Court? See the Latest Update below.
EdoToday reports that the People Democratic Party is yet to accept the outcome of the 2024 Edo state Governorship election.
The PDP has accused the APC of rigging the recent election, alleging collaboration with INEC to alter the results. According to reports, some APC members were seen paying voters between ₦10,000 and ₦20,000 to secure votes for their party.
Additionally, the sitting governor and his party’s candidate claimed that despite the APC‘s vote-buying at polling centers, they still managed to win a significant number of votes. However, they allege the manipulation occurred at the INEC collation center, where Governor Obaseki and some of his party agents were denied access. Obaseki believes this was part of a well-orchestrated plan.
Following the allegations of election rigging, the Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council for the Edo State Governorship Election and Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, announced that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will challenge the outcome of the recently concluded off-cycle governorship election in Edo State. The PDP, as Nigeria’s main opposition party, is determined to contest the results, citing irregularities and electoral manipulation.
