Why I No Go Ever Back Down for Fight Against Cultists” – Gov Okpebholo Open Up on Edo Wahala

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, don open up say e no go ever back down for the serious war wey im government don declare against cultists for the state.

The governor yarn say cultism don do Edo State more harm than good, as e dey chase investors comot, kill our youths, and destroy the economy wey suppose dey grow well.

According to wetin Okpebholo talk for Benin on Monday, Edo dey lose over $1 billion every year from people wey for invest for the state, all because dem dey fear the level of cult violence wey don take over some areas.

“Cultism don cause serious gobe. People dey die, businesses dey close, and investors dey run. How our state go take grow like that?” the governor ask.

E still point out say report from Diaspora Commission show say Edo na number one when it comes to money wey people send come from abroad, but 95% of that money no dey reach Edo, as people wey dey overseas dey fear to come invest for home.

“Our people abroad dey send money, but dem no fit bring the money come Edo to do business. Why? Because dem dey fear cult boys,” he talk.

Gov Okpebholo talk say the effect of cult wahala don lead to:

  • Businesses closing up

  • Disposable income drop for residents

  • Tourism decline

  • Infrastructure destruction

  • General fear and insecurity

But the governor say e no go fold hand look. E don declare total war against cultism and already, some communities and stakeholders don join hand with the government to tackle the issue head-on.

“Edo get better future. We no go allow cult boys destroy wetin God don bless us with. We go clean our state, make am safe again, and attract better investment.”

Gov Okpebholo also use the opportunity take beg Edo sons and daughters wey dey Nigeria and for abroad make dem no give up on the state.

“Make una bring una business and investment home. Together, we go rebuild Edo and make am better for everybody,” he beg.
