The Edo State Police Command has detained three individuals in connection with an attack on a gas station that damaged a pump machine valued at approximately N3.6 million.
According to reports, the attack happened on Thursday in the state’s Esan South East Local Government Area, specifically in the Ewato Community. The Ewohimi Police Division has seized and arrested several criminals, including one known as Biggy.
Moses Yamu, the state police spokesperson who verified the event to our reporter, stated that the culprits were now being held by the police and that they carried out the attack on the petrol station, damaging pump machines valued at N3.6 million.
He said, “The suspect damaged pump machines at the filling station estimated to the tune of N3.6m because a sales girl declined his advances.”
However, he promised that the case would receive the consideration it merited and that he would be tried in accordance with the law.
Chief Kenneth Ezojie, the Iyase of Ewato and the proprietor of the gas station, claimed he was contacted on Tuesday to report that Biggy and two other people had vandalized the establishment because his salesgirl had refused to sleep with Biggy for N5,000.
He said, “Three months ago, hoodlums destroyed my station. While we had yet to recover from that, on Tuesday, around 8:30 pm, Biggy came and asked my sales girl to sleep with him for N5,000.and she refused,” he said.
“Due to the fact that she rejected him, Biggy beat her up. On Thursday morning, my manager rushed to tell me Biggy returned and damaged the fuel meters,” he added.
Ezojie pleaded with security services to safeguard his company and see to it that the suspects are brought to justice.
Elders and community members were pleased that the criminal elements terrorizing the neighborhood had been apprehended and turned over to the police, according to a community member who asked to remain anonymous.
