Ikpoba-Okha and Uhunmwode local government areas of Benin Kingdom in Edo State, Chief Emmanuel Iyase has been appointed as Okao Eguae (District Head from Benin Palace) over Ologbo and Ehor Dukedoms by Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo.
According to Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the chief press secretary for the first-class monarch, Iyase, the first Okao Eguae from the Benin palace, was expected to enhance the traditional leadership structures in the territories, among other duties, yesterday evening.
Along with 69 other dissident Enigie (Dukes), he would be in charge of the Dukedoms from which the suspended Enogie of Ologbo (Prince Owen Jackson Akenzua) and Ehor (Chief D.E. Igiehon) Dukedoms, who had rebelled against the main traditional monarch, were suspended.
Speaking during the Ekpomwen-abor, a ceremony of gratitude held at Oba Palace’s Ugha Ozolua axis following the chieftaincy title conferment, the Oba of Benin stated that rebellion would not be accepted in the kingdom of Benin in the Edo South Senatorial District.
He cautioned the recently appointed Okao from engaging in any immoral behavior that would weaken his position of power or damage the Dukedoms’ reputation.
