As part of the oversight duties of tracking the advancement of projects aimed at improving school infrastructure in the state, Barr. (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs, the chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), led a delegation to examine the reconstruction projects of multiple schools in the Edo South Senatorial District.
The Edo South Board member, Mrs. Angela Okpamen, Dr. Osahon Aibangbee, and Engr. Martins were among the members of Barr. Briggs’ team. Evbareke Junior Secondary School, Useh Junior Secondary School, Okhokhugbo Primary School, Ebo Primary School, and Ore-Oghene Primary School were all visited by the team.
The chairman promised that the rehabilitation work will be finished as soon as possible after Helen Ogbemudia Ese, the headmistress of Ore-Oghene Primary School, voiced concerns about the dilapidated state of the school structures and the negative impact on the well-being of the students.
Mrs. Briggs conveyed her delight with the projects’ current state and promised that they would be finished in a few weeks to greatly enhance the learning environment. She emphasized the need for community security in reducing vandalism, stating that local residents, parents, teachers, and students must take responsibility for the facilities to guarantee their proper upkeep and protection.
According to the SUBEB boss, more than 100 schools in the three senatorial districts are being renovated and rebuilt as needed. She went on to say that the schools will get necessary equipment and facilities as part of the overall project, which aims to establish a secure and comfortable learning environment.
