PDP Fires Back at Oshiomhole, Says His Administration Was Corrupt, Chaotic
The People Democratic Party (PDP) criticized the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, for consistently criticizing Mr. Godwin Obaseki’s administration. They challenged him to identify any areas where his administration outperformed Obaseki’s.
Oshiomhole, speaking at the APC Governorship Campaign in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, emphasized the need for a thorough audit of the hospital administration and management. He also expressed the importance of holding accountable those responsible for an alleged fraudulent deal that restricts healthcare access to only the wealthy.
He also claimed that Obaseki and the PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo are allegedly plotting to manipulate the upcoming September 21 governorship election.
He warned against excessive dancing and urged people not to let anyone compromise the electoral process by stealing their PVCs and denying them the opportunity to vote.
We are committed to upholding and protecting those rights. We will handle the situation in a calm and respectful manner.
“Now, the significance of this election goes far beyond what can be easily comprehended,” Senator Oshiomhole stated.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Rev Olu Martins, the Deputy Director Media of the Asue Ighodalo/ Osarodion Ogie Governorship Campaign Council, criticized the Oshiomhole administration, describing it as corrupt, chaotic, and dishonest.
Martins, who questioned Oshiomhole to demonstrate any areas where his administration surpassed Obaseki’s administration, stated:
As the September 21 election draws near, it becomes evident that the APC, under the leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has become adept at spreading falsehoods, even at his age.
The APC has been acting as if it has never held power in Edo State. All we constantly hear about are the actions and decisions of Obaseki. During the period from 2008 to 2016, Edo State was under the leadership of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as governor. It is crucial to examine how the state fared under his administration and the subsequent leadership of Godwin Obaseki.
Thankfully, my involvement in the civil society allows me to provide a clear account of the experiences. The administration under Oshiomhole was characterized by corruption, chaos, brutality, and dishonesty.
I recall a time when Senator Femi Okunremi traveled across the country to gather input for the proposed National Conference initiated by President Goodluck Jonathan. They were at the Imaguero College, and Governor Adams Oshiomhole arrived there to make a showy appearance. However, he was unexpectedly confronted by a group of individuals, led by troublemakers, who proceeded to disrupt the hall in the presence of the mobile policemen brought in from Abuja and neighboring states to ensure the safety of Senator Okunromu and his entourage.
We also recalled a past incident involving a state protest led by Emmanuel Ademokun of the Nigeria Labour Congress at the reconstructed Palm House. Ademokun was subjected to physical violence, resulting in visible injuries and the need for medical attention. The assailant was identified as a former national president of the NLC. That provides insight into Oshiomhole’s actions during his tenure as governor of Edo State.
He claimed that every protest they organized resulted in physical violence, particularly during Oshiomhole’s tenure as governor of Edo State. If it weren’t for Kabaka, it would be No Molest. It came as a surprise to us that Adams Oshiomhole, who gained a reputation for constantly challenging the government as the NLC president,…
In his book, “The Breach of Trust,” Orobosa Omo-Ojo, a former Commissioner for Information in the administration of Adams Oshiomhole and now the APC Director of Media and Publicity, highlights Oshiomhole’s tendency to select individuals who may be perceived as less capable for his administration, rather than opting for stronger candidates.
