Monday Okpebholo is Set to Demolish Buildings of Land Grabbers in Edo State
The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has vowed to demolish all structures illegally erected by land grabbers across the state, warning that his administration will not tolerate encroachment on government-owned land.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo specifically cautioned those who have encroached on the Lot A parcel of land, popularly known as Coral City, situated within the Obagie Acquisition area in Benin City.
Describing the announcement as a final warning to land speculators and encroachers, the governor urged members of the public to desist from buying, selling, or developing any part of the designated land.
“This notice serves as a strong and last warning to land grabbers and encroachers on government lands in Lot A (Coral City) and others across the state, as dire consequences await such illegal activities,” the statement read.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized that any building constructed on the affected land will be demolished, and offenders will face legal prosecution.

Plans to Return Legitimate Lands to Owners

He explained that the decision to regularize land ownership and restore property rights aligns with his administration’s commitment to fairness, transparency, and accountability in land administration.
“The decision to regularize properties and return land to rightful owners is part of our administration’s effort to promote justice and accountability in land management,” Okpebholo said.
Edo Government’s Stand on Land Speculation
Governor Okpebholo reiterated his administration’s resolve to end land grabbing and speculative sales across the state, noting that such activities threaten urban planning and public development efforts.
He reaffirmed that the Edo State Government remains committed to sustainable urban development, orderly land use, and protection of legitimate property owners.
