Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, has reaffirmed his dedication to making sure that the state’s residents have access to safe and convenient roadways, stressing the significance of upholding high standards in ongoing road construction.
After examining a number of road projects in the city and its surroundings, the governor of Benin made this announcement on Monday. Okpebholo said the inspection was intended to make sure contractors follow project specifications and produce high-quality results, while also restating his administration’s commitment to building motorable roads.
“I am satisfied with the level of work done so far. You can see that asphalt has been laid, and the progress is meeting my expectations. I think about these roads constantly because I want my people to enjoy smooth and accessible roads.”
“This is why I personally monitor the construction instead of delegating the task to others. The road project is a priority for me, and I will ensure the citizens get the best,” Okpebholo said.
He explained that conducting inspections during the holiday season was intentional, to ensure contractors expedited their work while maintaining quality.
He added, “We are in the holiday period, but I made it a point to see the work firsthand to ensure the contractors deliver on their promises and meet the required standards.”
With infrastructure development as a top priority in 2025, Okpebholo emphasized his administration’s steadfast commitment to achieving the five points of his inauguration address, which include promoting economic growth and enhancing the lives of Edo residents.
The governor visited a number of current road projects during the inspection, which was accompanied by senior government officials.
These included Temboga Road, Upper Mission by Aduwawa Junction, Obadan Junction on the Benin-Auchi Expressway, and Upper Ekenwan Road close to the Military Cantonment. Residents greeted him warmly at each area and conveyed their appreciation for the efforts made by his administration to meet their infrastructural needs.
