The staging of the Edo State Sports Festival, which is planned for later in 2025, has received clearance from Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State.
Desmond Enabulele Amadin, the chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, revealed the information to reporters in Benin City. According to him, the sports fiesta would get the state’s delegations ready for the National Sports Festival, which will take place in Ogun State in May.
According to the head of the Sports Commission, the Board was putting measures in place to advance sports development in the state. He urged all athletes and staff to work together. However, for the benefit of the state Sports Commission as a whole, he advised the employees and sportsmen to adopt a culture of discipline in order to succeed in whatever they do in their chosen sector.
“Let me congratulate everyone for the successful completion of the three days fitness exercise which marked the beginning of our sporting activities this year and I want to urge us to be more focused on our job here. Let us remain committed.”
“It is festival year and we have a lot to do, beginning with zonal elimination, preceding the National Sports Festival, maintenance of facilities and welfare of athletes and staff.”
“We need your cooperation and I want you to know that my doors are open for important ideas and suggestions on how to develop our sports,” he said.
Enabulele, who expressed assurance of the Commission’s readiness to recognize good effort by members of staff and state athletes, promised to immediately address whatever issues they experience in the course of their duties.
Efe Amenze, the Director of Sports Development and Operations, had earlier revealed in her remarks that the employees were pleased that the Chairman was getting off to a good start with developmental programs. Assuring Enabulele that the management team and others will work together, Amenze wished him a successful stay.
