Bendel Insurance has received accolades from the Edo State government for their outstanding play in this season’s Nigeria Premier Football League, or NPFL.
The praise was given during an unexpected visit to the team’s training session by Amadin Desmond Enabulele, Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission.
Given their previous performance, Enabulele urged the team to try for a continental position. In their last 11 games, Bendel Insurance has only lost twice.
“I’m here for us to discuss the way forward concerning the remaining part of the season, but let me, on behalf of the state government and the Sports Commission, appreciate your efforts so far,” Enabulele stated during his visit.
“The terrible situation we met you in was what prompted our governor to mandate us to motivate you in any way possible to escape relegation. I think we can now look up and see that we have something to fight for. We are fifth, and the second and third positions are achievable if we can work harder, concentrate more, and stir up.”
“We should know that the key to continental presence is within our grasp, only if we can aspire and challenge ourselves, now that we are out of the Federation Cup. So, guys, let’s fight for the key to the promised land. We are going to motivate you more, so give us what we want, and we will do more.”
On Sunday, Bendel Insurance will play Nasarawa United in Benin City.
