A privately held manufacturing business called Izedon has opened a production factory in Lampese, in the Edo State local government area of Akoko-Edo, in an effort to increase Nigeria’s non-oil earnings and decrease the importation of calcium carbonates.Cultural tours in Nigeria Modern equipment and highly automated procedures are used in the production facility to increase productivity.
With a federal government-licensed and approved quarry, the company is the only integrated calcium carbonate production plant in Nigeria. It mines high-quality dolomite and turns it into calcium carbonates, which are necessary raw materials for a number of products, such as paints and coatings, Plaster of Paris (POP), oil and gas drilling fluids, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Izedon operates a “Quarry to Customer” model and boasts a fleet of 50-ton delivery trucks that take products directly to customers, setting it apart from other industry players.
Speaking at the commissioning of the plant at Lampese, chairman and founder of Izedon Carbonates, Mr Osayi Izedonmwen, said that dolomite is one of Nigeria’s mineral resources with huge deposits in Edo State that can boost Nigeria’s non-oil revenue, create jobs and diversify the economy.
“Import substitution is our end goal.” We foresee a future in which Nigeria will no longer need to import calcium carbonates because of the high-quality calcium carbonates produced at IzeCarb.
“In our first phase of operation, which should span about six months, we intend to meet the current local demand, and within one year, scale our production to 200,000 metric tons annually.”
“Furthermore, we have bold ambitions to grow our production capacity to 1 million metric tons within three years to serve Nigeria and the West Africa sub-region,” Izedonmwen said.
The Managing Director/CEO, Bank of Industry, Dr Olasupo Olusi, who was represented by the bank’s South-South regional manager, Mr. Babatunde Ajala, commended IzeCarb for the remarkable self-funded project.
The Bank of Industry committed to supporting the company’s future expansion to enable it to actualise its dream of import substitution.
“In alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, at the Bank of Industry, we are dedicated to supporting initiatives that foster economic diversification, import substitution, industrial growth and innovation,” he said.
Chairman, Akoko-Edo local government area council, Hon. Tajudeen Suleman, who was also present at the plant’s groundbreaking ceremony in February, remarked that he was particularly delighted to witness the commissioning of the production plant.
IzeCarb products come in a variety of formats, such as coated calcium carbonate, dolomite aggregate, and ground calcium carbonate with different micron sizes.
Direct orders can be placed by customers on the business’ website, which also features an integrated tracking system that lets consumers follow their orders all the way to delivery.
