Mr. Osagie thanked the stakeholders who are putting in a lot of effort to address the state’s migration problems.
The International Organization for Migration has given Benin Technical College five enormous solar inverters and ICT equipment to the Edo State Migration Agency.
Along with a case management database system and child care center, the organization also gave two lawnmowers and ceiling fans to the college on Thursday.
Paola Pace, IOM’s Chief of Mission, stated that the gesture was intended to increase the college’s and the migration agency’s ability to assist returning migrants and prevent human trafficking.
According to Ms. Pace, the contributions and the opening of the childcare facility marked an important turning point in the effort to give returned migrants respect and hope.
According to her, the ICT tools will empower returnees and help them gain important digital skills that are essential for reintegration and financial independence in the technologically advanced world of today.
According to her, the donation was a perfect fit with IOM’s common goal of creating a community of skilled, independent, and prosperous returning migrants.
She noted, “The child care centre is yet another testament to IOM’s dedication to supporting holistic reintegration. By providing a safe and nurturing environment for children, we give their parents the peace of mind they need to focus on rebuilding their lives.’’
Samson Osagie, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Edo State, thanked IOM for the donations during his remarks.
Through Aikefe Aigbavboa, Mr. Osagie conveyed gratitude to the stakeholders who are putting in a lot of effort to address the state’s migration problems.
Mr. Osagie claims that the relationship shows how effective teamwork can be in tackling the difficulties associated with migration and reintegration.
He said, “Together, let us continue to create opportunities and build a society where no one is left behind.’’
Also, the Benin Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Aganran Ganiu Alao stated that the agency had tackling human trafficking and irregular migration for the past 22 years.
He commended IOM for being a dependable and supportive partner to state and non-state actors involved in the fight against human trafficking and irregular migration.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates to returned migrants who completed various skills acquisition training at the Edo Jobs centre in Benin City and Auchi.
