How APC Plans to Win Edo Governorship Without Federal Might – Senator Urhoghide

Senator Matthew Urhoghide, the Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Organisation, has vehemently refuted claims that the APC is relying on ‘federal might’ to secure victory in the upcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State.

In a bold statement, Urhoghide asserted that the APC’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Hon Dennis Idahosa, are poised for success based solely on their proven track records of competence and service.

“Let me be clear,” Urhoghide declared, “our candidates’ victories will not hinge on any ‘federal might.’ Such claims are baseless. What does ‘federal might’ even mean in the context of this election?”

Highlighting the candidates’ achievements at district and constituency levels, Urhoghide emphasized their ability to deliver results and garner widespread support across Edo State. He dismissed criticisms of Okpebholo’s competency, citing his adeptness in assembling a capable campaign team as a testament to his administrative prowess.

“It’s premature for anyone to question our candidate’s competence,” Urhoghide asserted. “Senator Okpebholo has previously secured a mandate from Edo Central senatorial district, demonstrating his popularity and effectiveness as a leader.”

Addressing regional dynamics, Urhoghide underscored the APC’s stronghold in Edo North, historically supported by figures like Senator Adams Oshiomhole. He highlighted the popularity of Dennis Idahosa, the incumbent member of the House of Representatives from Ovia, as further evidence of the party’s broad appeal.

“Our candidates are not just popular; they are deeply rooted in their constituencies,” Urhoghide stated confidently. “The APC is undeniably prepared to lead Edo State forward, backed by a solid foundation of grassroots support and proven leadership.”

As the election draws nearer, Urhoghide expressed optimism that the APC’s campaign strategy, centered on merit and performance, will resonate with voters across the state. He urged the public to focus on the candidates’ achievements and commitment to service, rather than speculative notions of external influence.

“In the end,” Urhoghide concluded, “voters will decide based on merit and track record. We are confident that Senator Okpebholo and Hon Dennis Idahosa will emerge victorious, driven by the trust and endorsement of the people they serve.”
