During his official visit to the Agriculture Hub in Benin City yesterday, Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, Esq., the head of service for Edo State, charged the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security’s staff with fostering unity and synergy for workplace productivity.

He urged the ministry’s staff to freely share information and express their thoughts in order to improve proficiency within the service and Agriculture Hub. His main goal, he said, is to create a platform where employees can freely share ideas and provide feedback, which will lead to increased productivity in service.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring that the public and civil servants’ capacity-building development is of the highest caliber, and he stated that staff in the service would receive training and retraining.

He then conveyed the state governor’s intentions for the state, saying that his desire is to create an enabling environment where the civil servants can thrive in all aspects.

“As the engine of the State Government, we must do everything to foster the objective of the Governor, because this new administration has a lot of policies and programs”, he said.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Peter Osagie, thanked the HOS for his visit to Agriculture Hub, saying that his visit is a morale booster for the entire staff of Agriculture Hub. The HOS also urged the ministry’s staff to continue supporting the governor so that he can succeed in his administration.

He commended the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Peter Osagie, for his outstanding leadership and transformative initiative in the Edo State Government’s e-governance initiative, and praised his efforts to ensure orderliness and increased efficiency and effectiveness in the ministry.

He disclosed that Agriculture Hub comprises of so many arms and clusters, such as Agricultural Development Program (ADP), FADAMA N-CARE, EDO Rural Agriculture and Market Access Project (EDO RAAMP), Edo Livestock Productivity and resilience support project (L-pres), Livelihood Improvement, Family Enterprises Niger Delta (LIFE-ND).

Dr. Osagie mentioned all the arms in the agriculture hub have been working in synergy to ensure the mandate of the ministry is actualized. “These are the offshoots of the Ministry”, he added.

He clarified that although ADP has a strong reputation as a program, its employees continue to work for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. In order to translate the ministry’s budget into programs and initiatives that the Edo people can see and know the State is working on, he said the ministry and ADP require more staff members.

The PS and staff presented their official challenges to the HOS for potential solutions during the interactive portion. The awarding of an excellence award to the HOS was

the visit’s high point.
