On Friday, January 17, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo gave the police and other security forces orders to destroy all the homes connected to 16 alleged kidnappers who had been taken into custody in the state.
According to Okpebholo, the order to demolish the property took effect immediately. The governor’s order follows the apprehension of a few kidnappers in the Edo Central district.
Additionally, he urged the police to conduct an ongoing raid on all suspected kidnapper hideouts around the state. The governor claimed that destroying any property connected to criminals, particularly kidnappers, would discourage others from doing the same.
Okpebholo said that, “Criminals terrorising Edo State will have no place to hide, as security operatives have been empowered to fish them out wherever they are. We have purchased 75 Toyota Hilux vans for the security of our people.”
