In keeping with this idea, the governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, allocated ₦166.5 billion for agriculture and roads in the newly released Edo State 2025 Appropriations Budget.
The budget, which is appropriately named “Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” shows that the administration is concentrating on important areas that are essential to the development of the state. ₦162 billion of the total amount allotted is set out for road upkeep and building. By guaranteeing better road networks, making transportation simpler, stimulating economic activity, and cutting down on travel times for both enterprises and inhabitants, this significant investment seeks to alleviate the state’s infrastructure issues.
The governor’s dedication to food security and agricultural development is demonstrated by the ₦4.5 billion allocated for the agriculture sector. It is anticipated that the funding will assist projects like mechanized agriculture, new farming methods, and farmer empowerment programs, which will increase productivity and help the state become self-sufficient in food production.
The governor’s five-point agenda, which he laid forth in his inaugural address, is consistent with these allocations. The transformation of Edo State into a center of sustainable development, where economic growth is driven by agricultural success and excellent infrastructure, is at the heart of this vision.
By prioritizing roads and agriculture, among other key areas, the administration seeks to create a state where citizens can thrive, with reliable infrastructure and abundance of food resources.
