Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, has declared his intention to bring Edo Line, the state’s dormant transportation corporation, back to life.
This was revealed by the governor and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, during an inspection of the abandoned government-owned transit line on Benin’s Mission Road.
Jaffar Inegbedion, Move Monkey’s Fleet Manager, gave Okpebholo a guided tour of the facility and explained that he was there to observe firsthand and gather firsthand information in order to bring the business back to profitability.
Speaking at the premises of the company, the Governor said: “I am here to look at Edo line as this place has been abandoned for years, to see how we can revive it and put it back to use. This place is bushy and the place is completely abandoned.
“I am trying to find out if these vehicles here are the only assets of Edo Line. The few vehicles you are seeing now were more than this. I know they have more than 200 vehicles. We will look for those vehicles, get them back and use them to revive this place.”
