Gov Okpebolor Brings Back Vigilante In Edo state — See Details
In an effort to strengthen Edo State’s security framework, the administration has lifted the Edo State Security Corps’ September 2024 suspension.
His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor, took a choice that completely changes the state’s pursuit of increased safety and security.
Based on the constitutional provision that the Nigeria Police Force, with assistance from other sister agencies within the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), is solely responsible for election security, the suspension was started by the Inspector General of Police in advance of the September 21, 2024, Gubernatorial Election.
However, the Edo State Government has decided that the Security Corps must be reinstated in light of the favorable outcome of the gubernatorial election.
The purpose of this action is to protect the citizens and strengthen the state’s security system.
All returning officers must report to the State Corps Commander’s office or their respective zonal offices (North, Central, and South) as part of the reinstatement procedure.
The goal of this instruction is to guarantee a smooth transition and the Security Corps’ efficient deployment.
Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikilor, in a statement, emphasized government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
