The dedication of the administration led by State Governor Sen. Monday Okpebholo to upholding the rights and dignity of women and children and obtaining justice for the State’s oppressed people and inhabitants has been reiterated by Edo State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa.
During a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor at the Government House in Benin City, Rt. Hon. Idahosa provided the assurance while hosting the Edo State Branch of the International Federation of Female Lawyers (FIDA), which was led by Barr. Princess Francisca Elema, the organization’s chairperson.
According to the Deputy Governor, “The Executive Governor has made it clear on several occasions that in this Government, every citizen will have access, especially as it relates to the rights of women and children. You said something very significant, that the interest on women and children is one of your core mandates.”
“I want to assure you that as a government, we are going to partner with you to protect the rights of women and children. I am here to also encourage you in the interim, that whatsoever you are doing to bring peace and stability to our State, and to bring justice to those that would not have had the resources to go to court, we appreciate it”.
The leadership and members of FIDA were lauded by Rt. Hon. Idahosa for their unwavering dedication to restoring the dignity of Edo citizens, particularly women and children.
He gave the Association the assurance that the State Government would work with it and support it in achieving its objectives. “That is why we will not have any choice other than to partner with you to make sure that justice is served to all Edo citizens,” the Deputy Governor said, concluding that he would talk with his principal and go back to FIDA.
Barr. Elema reaffirmed the association’s dedication to helping the administration of Sen. Monday Okpebholo propel the state’s development and bring good governance to Edo’s residents and citizens.
