The nomination of Suleiman Aledeh as the substantive managing director of the state-owned Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) has been approved by Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State.
The appointment is effective right away. Aledeh works as a communication consultant, strategic media strategist, editor-at-large, and international journalist. He has worked as a broadcast journalist on television and radio for more than 20 years.
He has contributed significantly to prominent international news outlets such as GB News UK, SABC, and Al Jazeera. He currently expresses his thoughts on Classic FM and anchors a variety of news programs at Arise News.
Sulaiman, a 1999 philosophy graduate of the University of Benin, started his media career at Edo Broadcasting Service while still a student.
Later, as part of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, he worked at Ebonyi Radio, where he was the first corps member to be allowed to read the station’s main news bulletin.
At the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, where he produced and hosted influential shows, he further cemented his reputation. He started his career in national television as an anchor for major news shows on TVC and Channels Television for one of Africa’s leading media companies.
His experience in creating engaging television programming, delivering some of the network’s most memorable commercials, and covering important events, such as the general elections in 2011 and 2015, was further cemented during his time at Channels TV.
Aledeh showed excellent leadership in strategic communication while serving as the Assistant General Manager and Head of Media and Communications at Eko Disco, Nigeria’s top electricity distribution firm.
He is an Associate of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations and a Fellow of the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management.
Sulaiman, who graduated from the University of Lagos with a Master’s degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies, has worked as a news anchor and special correspondent for Arise News in Lagos and London.
