No fewer than 14 persons have died in traffic accidents across Edo State in the month of March 2025.
Cyril Mathew, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said this in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Benin City.
According to Mathew, the deaths happened in 17 traffic accidents around the state throughout the assessment period.
According to him, 94 people were involved in the accidents, 34 passengers were injured, and 14 passengers lost their lives.
Brake failure, excessive expenditure, reckless driving, and phone route violations, among other things, were blamed for the accident by the State Sector Commander.
However, in order to reach their destination safely, he cautioned drivers against using their phones while driving, speeding, driving while intoxicated, and driving at night.
He claimed that in order to save lives, the command has conducted several awareness-raising efforts and instructed drivers and other road users on the importance of fostering a culture of safety.
