How Many More Innocent Citizens Will Be Dismissed If Nigerian Police Can Fire Me For Revealing a Rape Case?
An Edo policewoman who was wrongfully fired demands justice. A female police officer was fired for disclosing a case of rape.
Uduma bemoaned how much more might have transpired if the case had included innocent citizens, given that the Nigerian police authorities were able to conceal a rape case she reported and fire her for bringing the issue to light.
Edith Uduma, the policewoman who reported a case of rape by a colleague at the Ibie Police station in Edo State and was later fired by the police, has once again called for justice and threatened to commit suicide if she does not receive it.
Uduma lamented that if the Nigerian police authorities could cover up a rape case she reported and dismiss her for exposing the matter, how much more would have happened if the case involved innocent civilians.
Uduma said this in an interview.
“What the Edo Command is saying is not what happened. They know I have no rank or support to fight back,” Uduma said.
