Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, has expressed satisfaction with the speed of development at the first flyover bridge in Edo State, which is being built in Benin City’s Ramat Park.
The administration of Governor Okpebholo is carrying out the project, which is anticipated to be finished in 18 months. In November 2024, just a week after Okpebholo took office as the state’s governor, the project was officially launched.
During an unplanned site visit, Mr. Andy Duan of CCECC, the project contractor, informed Governor Okpebholo that 20 percent of the project had already been completed.
Assuring the public that the business will adhere to the standards, Duan stated that the construction, which began last year, is already 20% complete.
“For this work which commenced in December 2024, we have done seven pillars, underground cross beams and other works are ongoing as we are doing our best to meet up with the construction period,” he stated.
Governor Okpebholo, for his part, stated that he is not sleeping because he is still keeping an eye on projects throughout the state to make sure they are completed in accordance with established guidelines.
The governor informed the Edo people that they would benefit from high-quality infrastructure development under his government and threatened to cancel contracts whose handlers were not operating in accordance with specifications.
“We are not sleeping. We go around the State to monitor all our ongoing projects to ensure quality job delivery. Also, to ensure contractors meet specifications.”
“For the Ramat Park flyover, the contractor is doing well, and I am impressed with the speed of the job done so far. If they continue with this kind of speed and pace, I believe they will complete the construction at the stipulated time. The materials like the iron being used and other materials are of high quality and standard.”
