The Emblem of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2024 has been inaugurated by Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, who has also promised to donate ten million naira to the cause.
Secretary to the State Government Umar Musa Ikhilor spoke on behalf of the governor and thanked the Nigerian Legion and military personnel for their support. Ikhilor underlined that the emblem launch is a symbol of our shared desire to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives to ensure the peace and security of the country, not just a custom. Additionally, he called on the public to remember soldiers who have never ceased to motivate others with their commitment and fortitude.
“The event provides a unique opportunity to reflect on the selfless service and unwavering dedication of armed forces personnel,” said Aiyegbeni Balogun, Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs. A.C.G. Ignatius Enabulele, the chairman of the Nigeria Legion in Edo State, also underlined the significance of honoring the sacrifices made by veterans and dead heroes.
In addition, he advocated for harmonious coexistence, valuing diversity, and viewing individual differences as assets. The presentation of the emblem to His Excellency and other esteemed guests was the event’s high point. Wives of fallen heroes, staff, ex-servicemen, and corps members attended the event.
