In a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City on Wednesday, Moses Yamu, the spokesman for the Edo State Police Command, revealed that two people have been arrested by the command for the alleged murder of a seven-year-old boy named Evans Okojabhole in Irrua, Esan Central LGA.
A 45-year-old pastor named Ijebor Simon and a 23-year-old man named Destiny Okojabhole.
Yamu said that the case of the minor’s murder was reported to the Irrua Divisional Headquarters by John Okhojibole of Jehovah Witness Road, off Elebesunu Street, in Irrua. He said that the incident occurred at approximately 1.45 pm on February 22, 2025, at approximately 1.45 pm.
According to Yamu, the complainant, John Okhojibole reported that the remains of his seven-year-old son were found with his stomach torn open, his feet severed, and his body dumped in the bush near their home 24 hours after he went missing.
The two suspects were taken into custody by the Irrua Divisional Headquarters’ agents during preliminary investigations, according to the Command’s spokesperson.
He stated that the State Criminal Investigations Department Benin-City has been tasked with conducting additional inquiry into the case.
