Ojiezele Osezua, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, has decreased the number of members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Edo State House of Assembly by one.
The Esan South-East constituency is represented by Ojiezele. The congressman who was elected on the platform of APC between 2019 and 2023 was among the 10 members who were inaugurated by the immediate past governor, Godwin Obaseki. However, he switched to the Peoples Democratic Party, and on the PDP platform, he was re-elected in the general election of 2023.
Along with members of the state executive council, Jarret Tenebe, the party’s acting state chairman, welcomed the two-time lawmaker.
According to Ojiezele, who called his defection “homecoming”, It,s because of the irreconcilable crisis rocking the party both in the state and at the national levels.
The defected lawmaker, who represents the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo in the last September 21, 2024 governorship election constituency, promised to woo more of his supporters back to the party.
Receiving the lawmaker back to the party, Tenebe said more members of opposition parties would join the party
