Edo State Govt Hosts Closing Ceremony For Cohort 2 Of Graduate Development Program
Under the auspices of the Office of the Edo State Head of Service, the Directorate of Corporate Change Communication and Performance Management (Transformation Office) has wrapped up the Cohort “2” Innovative Project Presentation and Closing Ceremony for the Graduate Development Program.
The Permanent Secretary of Transformation Office, Dr. Mrs. Joy Akhigbe, spoke at the event, which took place at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) in Benin City. She characterized the program as a strategic initiative that aims to retain top talent in the Edo State Civil and Public Service. She insisted that the program offers instant employment in the public sector to first-class Edo State graduates from universities throughout Nigeria.
The program entails a one-year rotational participation across many ministries, divisions, and agencies (MDAs), according to Dr. Akhigbe. At the end of the program, participants are expected to present creative projects that the government can implement, she said, adding that the approach gives participants a broad understanding of Civil Service operations, preparing them to succeed in any MDA to which they will be posted.
Dr. Efosa Aisien, Permanent Secretary of the Hospital Management Agency, praised the program in his remarks for encouraging participants to be creative and innovative. He called the program strategic, allowing recent graduates to have a constructive impact on the system. He conveyed his faith in the trainees, pointing out their ability to make a substantial contribution to Edo State’s progress.
Agoni Clinton and Timothy Maryjane were recognized as the overall best trainees. Both expressed gratitude to the Edo State Government for the opportunity to gain professional and leadership exposure, which they credited for enhancing their skills and confidence.
The event was attended by key officials of the Edo State Government, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, Mr. E. Nyamali; the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Mrs. B. J. Igbinobaro; the Permanent Secretary of Human Resource, Mr. G.O. Igberease; amongst others.
