On Sunday, the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) congratulated the Christian community on Easter and urged both Christians and non-Christians to celebrate in peace and to live a life filled with love and selflessness.
Comrade Festus Alenkhe, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, signed the statement.
Additionally, Alenkhe sent his Easter greetings to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, his deputy Dennis Idahosa, and every member of the State Executive Council, asking God to grant them the discernment and direction necessary to steer Edo State toward significant projects, progress, and peace.
The Easter celebration of the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus represents a fresh start, hope, and the promise of renewed life, according to Alenkhe, who also urged everyone to exercise caution during the holiday.
“The Easter celebration festivities is a reflection on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, expressions of joy and love,” Alenkhe said.
“We must collectively build a society where peace, unity and love thrives as Christians and non Christians alike as emulated in the gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ.”
Along with praying for journalists in Edo, the NUJ chairman hoped that the Easter miracle would bring love and peace to them and their immediate families.
He emphasized to journalists the importance of upholding the profession’s ethics by making sure that the guidelines for media engagement are rigorously adhered to.
