Dennis Idahosa, the deputy governor of Edo State, stressed the importance of expanding the NELFUND project’s reach to students in higher education during the initiative’s launch at the Edo State Ministry of Education and stakeholders engagement session held at the Festival Hall, Government House, Benin.
Noting that the effort will alleviate the financial strain on Edo State students and families, Idahosa commended President Bola Tinubu for it.
According to Idahosa, since NELFUND loans do not impose any restrictions on any higher education credentials, obtaining a loan is an easy step for potential students (loanees).
Idahosa emphasized that the Edo State Government will keep working with NELFUND to make postsecondary education available and cheap for students enrolled in state-owned postsecondary educational institutions, even as he urged Nigerian students to utilize the program.
The Deputy Governor of Edo State added that the program is a great help to parents and kids who are self-supporting, stressing that the concerns surrounding school fees will be eliminated with the NELFUND loans.
Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu, the Edo State Commissioner of Education, had earlier stated that all Nigerians could use the facility, highlighting the importance of education in putting all students on the same footing with those from other countries.
Akintunde Sawyer, the NELFUND’s managing director and CEO, praised President Bola Tinubu for his foresight, bravery, and dedication to the NELFUND’s implementation. He appreciated Okpebholo for ensuring that the NELFUND opportunity is prioritised in Edo State.
