Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, the Edo State Commissioner for Health, has stated that he has corrected certain architectural flaws found at the Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin.
According to reports, just before he stepped down, Godwin Obaseki, the immediate past governor, officially opened the renovated hospital.
Oshiomhole, who was joined by a group of medical advisors and the hospital’s contractor for an inspection tour of the facility on Monday, stated that the team had decided on the best way to fix the mistake.
He said, “I went round the Stella Obasanjo Hospital to inspect the facility. I was accompanied on the visit by consultants and the contractor handling the project to look at what they had done so far.
“We discovered errors made while constructing the hospital. We discussed what to do to ensure we correct the errors detected. We all agreed that the issues should be resolved, as I love working with the team.
“Teamwork has helped us discover the error, and that is why I have with me gynaecologists and surgeons and some medical consultants who are here to support me.”
According to Oshiomhole, the consultants and the contractor have decided to make the required changes prior to the hospital’s operations starting.
Among those who accompanied the commissioner on the inspection were Omuera Francis, the Director of Medical Laboratory Services; Dr. Odiko David, the Director of Clinical Services; and Dr. Efosa Aisien, the Permanent Secretary of the Hospital Management Agency.
