According to reports, two Edo State fire service workers are in the hospital after a structure collapsed while they were attending to an emergency.
Based on an information received, the incident took place in Benin City’s Evbuotubu village early on Friday (today). Officials were reportedly in the neighborhood to put out a fire that had spread across the building.
According to an eyewitness report, the personnel was putting out the fire when the structure collapsed on them. Whether the employees were from the Federal Fire Service or the Edo State Fire Service was unknown at the time this report was filed.
When reached, Deputy Superintendent Asimu Sumaila, the state’s Federal Fire Service Public Relations Officer, stated he had not yet been notified of the event. After being briefed by the operational officers, he committed to responding to our correspondent.
