The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna North Senatorial District (Zone 1) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, for re-election in 2027.
This decision was made during a major stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday at the Federal College of Education auditorium in Zaria. The meeting, which brought together top party chieftains from across Kaduna State, was convened to strengthen party unity and chart a way forward ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after the gathering, Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, confirmed the endorsement, noting that stakeholders had unanimously passed motions backing Tinubu, Sani, and Abbas for second-term bids in their respective offices.
Among those present were former governors, serving and former ministers, members of the National and State Assemblies, ambassadors, commissioners, and heads of government agencies.
In his remarks, the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal Abbas, commended President Tinubu for his visible impact in Kaduna State. He highlighted key projects such as the re-award of the Abuja–Kaduna expressway, a previously notorious hotspot for kidnappers and armed bandits. The President, according to the minister, has ordered the road project to be completed within six months.
The Minister also mentioned that the Zaria–Sokoto road has been awarded under similar directives, urging the people of Zone 1 to appreciate Tinubu’s support by voting massively for the APC come 2027.
He warned against being misled by “a blind horse,” a phrase many believe was a subtle jab at former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s alleged involvement with the Social Democratic Party (SDP), whose logo features a white horse.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also addressed the gathering, revealing that over ₦50 billion had been allocated in the 2025 federal budget for projects across the eight local government areas that make up Kaduna Zone 1. He added that an equivalent amount has also been reserved for major institutions including Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and Kaduna State University.
Abbas announced that farmers in the zone would soon receive equipment and inputs, while selected stakeholders will be granted slots for the Hajj and Jerusalem pilgrimages. He urged party members to continue mobilizing support for Tinubu, Sani, and himself to ensure continuity in development and governance.
Speaker Abbas also called for regular meetings at the ward, local government, and zonal levels, stressing that party unity would play a vital role in the APC’s success in 2027. He appealed to party appointees and elected officials to use their positions to serve members rather than pursue personal interests.
Senator Suleiman Uthman Hunkuyi joined the call for unity, saying opposition parties lacked credible leadership and that the APC must resist narratives aimed at discrediting its front-runners. Former Governor Ramalan Yero echoed this sentiment, urging grassroots campaigns and emphasizing that Zone 1 remains the heartbeat of politics in Kaduna.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Meyere said Zone 1 remains the most politically endowed region in the state, boasting key leaders like Speaker Abbas and Minister Abbas. He encouraged party members in the area to maintain loyalty and commit fully to the APC’s success.
Also speaking, APC North West National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Datti Babawo, commended Tinubu, Sani, and Abbas for their leadership and achievements. He noted that the APC will soon begin electronic registration of members nationwide to boost transparency and party organization.
The meeting concluded with the official adoption of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas as the APC’s sole candidates for their respective offices in 2027. The motion was moved and unanimously adopted by all stakeholders present.
As Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 elections, the Kaduna North Senatorial District’s show of unity and early endorsement signals a strategic start to what could be a heated political season.
