APC Candidate Monday Okpebholo Enrolls in Adult School Ahead of Edo Election
As the September 21 election approaches, Monday Okpebholo, the governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has reportedly enrolled in an adult education class to brush up on basic subjects.
A Twitter post by influencer Harry Chidi revealed Okpebholo’s enrollment, and the news has since gone viral on social media. The candidate has signed up for classes in Mathematics, English, and Social Studies at the Ladewin Adult Education Centre in Jabi, Abuja.
The enrollment form, titled “Application for Admission into the Adult Education Programme,” shows that Okpebholo, born on August 29, 1972, began his studies on June 10, 2024. He holds a Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and listed Liberty Comprehensive College in Jos, Plateau State, as his last attended school.
This move by Okpebholo might be a response to recent criticisms regarding his public speaking abilities and his reluctance to engage with the media. Many have expressed concerns about a governorship candidate needing to study basic subjects and questioned his capability to govern if elected.
The adult education classes aim to enhance his speaking skills and broaden his knowledge in preparation for the upcoming governorship debate next month.
