The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed alarm over a clandestine attempt by members of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to sabotage the ongoing proceedings of the Edo State Governorship Tribunal.
Emperor Jarret Tenebe, the chairman of the APC’s Edo chapter, stated in a statement released Monday that the planned disruption is intended to change the tribunal’s decision.
According to Tenebe, the PDP and Asue Ighodalo’s supporters plan to carry out this unlawful behavior on Tuesday, highlighting the need for security forces to take precautions to prevent this disruption.
The APC leader stressed that the party will not tolerate any attempts to subvert the judicial system or disturb the peace, and he encouraged security forces to take the threat seriously and hold those responsible for the planned disturbance accountable.
In order to prevent supporters of the PDP and its unsuccessful candidate for governor, Asue Ighodalo, from possibly disturbing the Attorney General’s Office, the leader of the APC advised security forces, including the Nigerian Army, police, and DSS, to exercise care and take the necessary steps.
The PDP and Ighodalo are contesting Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s victory in the campaign for governor.
