Two measures to create the state roads funds and rural access road agency were discussed by the 24-member Edo State House of Assembly yesterday.
One of the topics of discussion was the urgent renovation of rural access roads.
In order to finance the management, planning, development, rehabilitation, construction, and maintenance of classes C and D roads as well as the rehabilitation of class B roads, Majority Leader Charity Aiguobarueghian pushed for the passage of a bill for a law on second reading that would establish the state roads funds and the Edo roads funds board and administration.
In order to administer, develop, repair, rebuild, and maintain the state’s classes C and D roads as well as to address other related issues, the bill to create the Edo Rural Access Road Agency was also passed on second reading.
A report from the House of Assembly’s standing committee on water and energy resources was presented, along with a bill to repeal the Edo State Electricity Law 2022 and create the Edo State Electricity Market, the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Edo Electrification Agency, the Edo State Electricity Transmission Company, and other related entities.
The measure, which aimed to provide energy distribution to Edo State’s rural villages, was put on hold for subsequent cons
