Two governors, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Monday Okpebholo of Edo, have been honored by the Foreign Investment Network (FIN), a prominent investment organization with headquarters in London.
During its global award event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, prominent figures such as the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, and others were also honored.
Top CEOs, MDs, inventors, founders, and other stakeholders from several nations attended the historic award ceremony, which was held on April 9 at the Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf at the 2025 Net Zero MEA Summit.
In honor of their outstanding accomplishments in Lagos and Edo States, Governor Okpebholo was given the Distinguished FIN Emerging Governor of the Year Award, and Governor Sanwo-Olu was given the Distinguished FIN Outstanding Leadership Award.
The Distinguished FIN Transformational Leader in Development Finance Award was given to Dr. Olasupo Olusi, MD/CEO of Bank of Industry (BoI), and the Distinguished FIN Rural Electrification Champion of the Year Award was given to Hon. Doris Uboh, Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), for her exceptional public service.
Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Biodun Ogunleye, who represented Sawo-Olu said: “ Our unique selling point is not just about upwardly mobile population but a growth trajectory that confirm Lagos as a choice destination for investment.”
“The FIN event was an opportunity for Lagos, under the able leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu, to showcase the competitiveness of our city as an investment destination.”
Managing Director, Edo State Investment Promotion Office, Mr Amen Odigie, received the award onbehalf of Okpebholo, said “The Edo State government is prioritizing agriculture, renewable energy investments and sustainable development.”
FIN Chairman, Dr. Olayinka Fayomi, said: “We are delighted to honour our distinguished honourees in Dubai for their stellar achievements and remarkable contributions to public service and humanities.”
