The Nigerian Youth Parliament has received assurances from Rt Hon (Mrs) Maria Omozele Oligbi-Edeko, the Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, that she will fully support the development of young people in the Edo Central Senatorial District and the state as a whole.
When the Edo Central Senatorial District members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament paid her a visit at the Edo State House of Assembly, Edekor made this statement.
When welcoming the members, the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon (Mrs) Maria Omozele Oligbi-Edeko, gave them her undivided support for the advancement of young people in the Edo Central Senatorial District and the state as a whole.
In order to effectively improve youth development, Hon. Edekor pledged cooperation with the Edo State House of Assembly and the Nigerian Youth Parliament.
According to her, “through collaboration and shared responsibility, we can build a brighter future for our young people.” She stated.
The deputy speaker was informed earlier by the youth parliament’s leader, Hon. Ikhili Ehiaghe Iziegbe (BPT, mMRTB), that they were there to formally introduce themselves as the representatives of the Edo Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Youth Parliament and to talk about possible areas of cooperation between the Edo State House of Assembly and the Nigerian Youth Parliament.
Hon Ikhili said , “In pursuit of our mission to foster meaningful engagement and empowerment for the youth of Edo Central Senatorial District, it is an opportunity to advocate for increased youth participation in governance, policy formulation, and empowerment initiatives”.
According to her, “I came to introduce myself and my other members as the representatives of Edo Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Youth Parliament as well as discuss potential areas of collaboration between the Nigerian Youth Parliament and the Edo State House of Assembly”
“We are seeking your support in issues affecting young people in Edo Central and Strategies for youth empowerment, including skills development, entrepreneurship, and education reforms.” She stated .
“We remain committed to advocating for policies that enhance youth development and will continue working with relevant stakeholders to achieve meaningful progress”.
Members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament from the Edo Central Senatorial District were among those in attendance.
