Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, has stated that he will speak with Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State to determine the monetary compensation for the families of the hunters who were murdered in Uromi by vigilance group members.
The two states’ governments will come to an agreement, according to Okpebholo, who made this announcement public on Friday through his press secretary, Fred Itua.
Okpebholo welcomed the team on Thursday and revealed that the federal government, working with the state governments, had also established a fact-finding committee to investigate the circumstances of the recent killings.
The governor expressed his displeasure with the events in Uromi and stated that President Bola Tinubu was committed to making the country and state safe for everyone to live in and conduct business in.
He said, “I can’t say what the financial compensation will be. The Kano State Government delegation arrived in Benin on Thursday and submitted a report that only the Edo State governor has seen.”
“What I think will happen is that the governor will contact the Kano State governor on what financial compensation would go to the family of the deceased. What is clear is that an agreement will be reached, and it will be made public.”
He promised to investigate the Kano State Government’s suggestions and to get in touch with Governor Yusuf to discuss the next course of action.
