He said: “Whatever we are doing, which is favouring Edo workers, is done because it is our responsibility as a government. Edo people voted for us to work for them, and that is what we are doing to ensure life is made better for our people, including the workers.”

“We embrace transparency in all what we do as a government, so as to enable the people to trust us, as we are not afraid of criticisms. Positive criticisms will put us on our toes to work harder for Edo people.”

“The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given us room and platform to perform and serve Edo people better, as we embark on practical governance.”

“We are doing everything in Edo State to ensure peace, unity, growth, and development. That is why we ensure smooth collaboration among the three tires of government. In all we do in the state, we ensure the three senatorial districts are carried along.”

The acting chairman of the NLC said that he and other executive members were in Government House to congratulate Edo governor on his win at the Abuja governorship election petitions tribunal, which confirmed his victory in the election held on September 21, 2024.

Okpebholo’s developmental advancements and the conducive work atmosphere he established for Edo workers were praised by him.

Egwekhide said: “Workers in Edo State are proud of you (Okpebholo) for your developmental strides in the state. You have created a friendly relationship between your administration and Edo workers, as you have always taken steps to favour the state’s workers.”

“Without asking, workers received their 13th month salary. You raised the subvention of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma from N41 million to N500 million. You regularised casual workers in Edo State. You increased what is due pensioners monthly from N50 million to N1 billion for both local and state pensioners.”

A committee has been established to investigate the mandatory pension plan, which the acting chairman of the NLC in Edo said had become a burden on retired civil personnel. The report will be sent to Okpebholo for his consideration.

He said: “We thank Edo governor for many employment opportunities given to our people in your very short time in office.”

On a courtesy call at Government House, Okpebholo also welcomed Apanke Utande, the recently appointed branch controller for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Edo state. The governor of Edo urged Utande to work with his government to enhance the quality of life for the people of Edo state.
